Participating in the Bon Odori Festival in Yubetsu
On August 17, 2026, the Bon Odori Taikai was held at Sazanami Hall. The event was lively and well attended by both Japanese residents and foreign participants from various countries.
As a member of the Chiiki Okoshi Kyoryokutai (Community Revitalization Cooperation Team), we arranged transportation and provided support for foreign residents who wished to participate in the festival. The participants enthusiastically took part in the Bon Odori competition, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere throughout the event.
Together with local residents of Yubetsu Town, we danced to the rhythmic sounds of traditional taiko drums. We were also delighted to see several foreign participants win prizes in different categories of the competition.
The event was more than just a dance competition. It provided a valuable opportunity to deepen with local residents and introduce traditional Japanese culture to people from different countries.
Dancing together with the local community and experiencing the vibrant atmosphere accompanied by taiko drums was truly memorable. It was a wonderful opportunity to experience Japanese culture firsthand and became one of the most unforgettable cultural experiences during our time in Japan.
